• Working with a broker instantly boost capacity. Depending on the size of the freight broker, they may work anywhere from one thousand to over fifty thousand carriers. This kind of capacity increases the chances that the freight broker can provide truckload capacity for 20-40% less costly than, if you’re asking your current providers that are not brokers. Either way, compare the rates between the freight broker and your providers. That's how you minimize costs

• Brokers work with thousands of carriers to call upon to negotiate pricing therefore has more flexibility on its pricing.

Converting From Truckload To Rail Incentive

OMAHA, NE--(Sept 17th, 2010) - BAT Logistics, provider of 3rd Party Logistics and Transportation Solutions.

According to the Association of American Railroads (AAR) this week it reports weekly rail car load volume set a new 2010 record for the second consecutive week.

With the slow down in the economy more shippers have been utilizing the railroad as another alternative to saving money. And why not. Unless, your product is time sensitive, or needs to be refrigerated, rail can be a perfect option that can save you up to 20-30 %, and sometimes more. Not mention some other ways to save money through rail services.

The downside to rail is the amount of time it takes to transport freight. For example, to transport freight 850 miles could take four to five days using rail service, but only take two days for truck load service.
A good approach to time sensitive freight and thats not temperature control is to offer your customer/vendor a discount for more time to receive their freight. I bet you twenty percent of the time your customer could spare a couple more days, regardless of the discount.

Some other benefits to utilizing rail service can be that of a rolling warehouse, and its ability to provide drop trailers to cut back on the man hours needed to load/unload its freight.

With the economy cutting into your labor costs, drop trailers can be less costly than having to pay drivers overtime sitting for several hours while your short on help due to labor cut backs.
While there are costs associated with having rail containers dropped its can be much cheaper in the long run. Now, for those looking to save money, by freeing up space in the facility warehouse, without having to ship their freight earlier than its customer wants it, can take advantage of rail service as its moving warehouse. A moving warehouse is exact as it sounds and its getting past my bed time.

Salvation Army. We have increased our giving every year and one of the ways
we give back is to adopt families that would otherwise not have a Christmas with presents. This year BAT has adopted 11 families ranging from 2-7 family members. We provide gifts from a wish list for the Children and we also provide a gift card to a local grocery store to buy their Christmas dinner
for the whole family. It is just a small token to share the blessings we at
BAT have received throughout the year. This is BAT's 3rd year adopting families during the Christmas holiday, and double the amount of families it has adopted from year 2.

Shippers Have More Protection With Freight Brokers & 3PL Providers

Shippers should be aware of the Anti-Indemnity Laws that may have already been passed in its own state. Shippers that require its transportation providers to hold them harmless from any and all losses regardless, of who's at fault. The passing of the Anti-indemnity law means indemnity agreements in motor carrier contracts are against state public policy and therefore void. That puts the balance of liability back to shippers doing business with motor carriers directly. However, the Anti-Indemnity laws does not pertain to shippers contracting with 3pls/freight brokers. This could mean more business for 3pls/freight brokers, but at how much risk to themselves.

customers. This strategy will ensure BAT can provide trucking options with the

We decided to list just a few of the many reasons this peak season has been more costly shipping freight then previous peak seasons. -2008 more than 3000 trucking companies went out of business. That's 3.5 less trucks on the road for every 50.

-2009 4th Quarter over 500 trucking companies went out of business. That's

-2009 Kenosha's JHT Holdings Inc., the country's largest factory-to-dealer
hauler of newly built semitrailer trucks, reorganized in a voluntary bankruptcy proceeding last year.

-2009 Tonnage was down more than 15%. As a result less trucks than ever on the roads.
With that said, freight has started to increase, thus causing a shortage of trucks vs. available freight.

-2010 Jan thru April marks 4 consecutive months freight
has been on the rise.

-2010 A majority of trucks started 2010 losing money over the rapid fuel increasing and were unable to charge current fuel surcharge in enough time.

Freight demand is on the rise while the supply of available trucks in the market is starting to decline. Customers responsible for shipping freight will need to play it safe and avoid holding out for the cheapest price to have its freight hauled.

Think of the freight transportation market as the stock market. Higher risk is holding out for the cheapest price to have your freight hauled, which is comparable to a stock broker in the stock market searching to pay the least amount for a targeted stock. The moderate risk is paying what a customer in the freight transportation market believes to be a fair price to have his or her freight hauled, in comparison to the stock broker paying what he or she believes to be a fair price for the targeted stock. Its as simple as that. The only difference is the stock broker doesn't always have to buy the stock and on the other side...your freight has to move.

BAT Logistics see a spike in its Partial/Consolidated services

We have seen a huge spike in our Partial/Consolidated service this month. This service allows customers to only pay for the amount of space they utilize instead of paying for the price of a full truckload. BAT considers suggest this service when shipping 4 pallets or more with a limit of 11 pallets and weight of 3,000lbs or more with a limit 10,000lbs. Anything below or over this requirement we suggest other ways to move the freight.

In the past 30 days we have seen a 40% increase for this service. It has been a mixture of current customers discovering our partial service, new customers, and current customers that have increased their volume because of the huge savings. Its just been amazing to hear some of the feedback on how much we have been able to save the customers who before BAT Logistics either requested a full truck load or LTL service.

LTL(less than truck load) which typically ranges anywhere between 100 and 10,000 lbs per load.

What separates our Partial/Consolidated service from the competiton is simply our lower prices. There has always been a grey area between LTL and Partial/Consolidated service when it comes to prices. Call us today and we will identify how much you could save with us!.

This has been a very good month for BAT Logistics. I wrote in an article that predicted the shipping season would indeed have a great June and thankfully it has been. This being BAT's first blog ever, I just wanted to thank all our customers who have supported us and you know who you are!! We do what we do because of the love we have for our customers. I can only hope someday we can send them all to vegas!!! This concludes the first blog ever. Its June 21st entry and Happy Fathers Day to everyone from BAT Logistics!
